My first major in college was theater, and I envisioned someday acting on the stage or in film. I changed my major to pre-med after two years, realizing that all of my hard work might never pay off in theater. Subsequently, my creative yearnings were stifled as I stuffed more and more science into my brain. In recent years, I have found that writing fiction has unwrapped my creativity in a new and passionate way. I'm an emergency physician and Assistant Professor at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. I wrote the first draft of my novel after attending "Fiction Writing for Physicians," taught by physician authors Michael Palmer and Tess Gerritsen. I’ve been board-certified in emergency medicine for thirty years and have seen over 100,000 patients. I'm married and have two sons. I love to read obsessively as well as dance, travel, cycle, swim, play Pickleball and indulge in chocolate every now and then.
