Nicole Hendrick Donovan is an author, reflective storyteller, speaker, spiritual seeker, and workshop facilitator. Nicole is a former Montessori educator who has worked with a variety of students with various needs. During her teaching career, she created a Montessori preschool classroom which integrated neurotypical and non-neurotypical learners. After her son’s autism diagnosis, she became an ABA therapist and worked directly with children and families in the autism community. In 2017 Nicole shifted her focus to her memoir, A Life Suspended, a Mother and Son’s Story of Autism, Extinction Bursts and Living a Resilient Life, as well as writing for her blog. Within the pages of her memoir, Donovan describes the path to her son’s autism diagnosis and her journey to acceptance and unconditional love, not only for Jack, but also for herself. Nicole believes that authentic, reflective storytelling is medicine for the soul… “Although the storyteller stands alone, their words reach beyond the written page. Finding people where they live, story invites them to join a wider circle. We see ourselves in others. In the emotions expressed we find our humanity and rest in the softness of empathy. We are bonded by story, by life, by our experiences.” Nicole is also a certified practitioner in the healing arts of the Usui Reiki tradition and holds a certification as a meditation instructor. She is the creator of a line of essential oil sprays and products including her signature Rose Ray Surrender Spray. Nicole is the author of A Life Suspended, and is the facilitator of Snapshot Stories, a unique workshop exploring vintage photographs using reflective writing practices and meditation.
