Hailing from Chicago, IL, Nick Medina brings a deep appreciation for local and Native culture, folklore, and storytelling to his work. His novels, Sisters of the Lost Nation (a Junior Library Guild Gold Standard Selection), Indian Burial Ground (named one of Parade's best horror books of 2024), and The Whistler (called "Truly spooky" by People Magazine and named one of 2025's best horror novels by Men'sHealth) intertwine supernatural myths with current social issues, exploring themes rooted in both history and legend. Fascinated by Windy City ghosts, Nick has researched some of Chicago's most famous supernatural tales, and he's even gone in search of some of their stars (Resurrection Mary, the Italian Bride, the Devil Baby) in cemeteries around the city. When he's not writing and researching, he enjoys hearing ghost stories, playing guitar, keeping fit, and spending time with family. His fourth novel, Savage Lake, will be available in November 2026 from Berkley/Penguin Random House.
