After a wonderful career as a professional illusionist wherein I performed on five continents, in eighteen countries, and in forty-seven of the fifty USA states, I retired. Then, I discovered a new way to entertain — writing novels! I'm translating what I learned on stage to the page in terms of pacing, creating interest, and holding attention. As of the year 2024, I am still a new writer, even though I've completed seven novels since I started in the fall of 2022. People are saying many nice things, and I've received some great reviews; however, since people are still discovering I exist, I need more readers and feedback. My Goal is to write fun and exciting stories for people who love to read. This goal is framed within my choice to write without profanity or explicit material while keeping the characters realistic, their actions believable, and the endings to the stories satisfying. My writing is fast-paced, gritty, and "real world." If my books had movie ratings, they would be PG or PG-13 (for violence). In Duane Laflin Books, the good guys win, the bad guys lose, the heroes are morally upright, the bad guys are truly evil, and events and solutions to problems are realistic— things that could actually happen.
