Morgan Smith is an author who grew up in a crime-ridden and impoverished community in New York. His early childhood was blighted by gang violence and drugs, but he somehow found a way to escape from what was a death sentence for many other young African-American men and forge a future for himself. His motivation came from the members of the black community who had stood against injustice and the racism that had blighted America for so long and he read as much as he could about inspirational leaders such as Martin Luther King and Malcom X. Seeing how they had overcome the adversity that they had faced, gave him the inspiration to write his book, 60 Amazing Black People Who Changed the World, which examines their influences and reasons for fighting for their rights. Now working as a motivational speaker himself, Morgan is painfully aware that there is still much to be done and that those instrumental people who have gone before him were just one step in a long journey. In his free time Morgan likes to read and research some lesser known historical black figures. He is a huge an of the NY Yankees baseball team and tries to catch a game whenever he is back in his hometown. For now he is enjoying a peaceful life in rural Tennessee, where he lives with his wife and their three children and works full time as a writer and speaker.
