Chlanda is currently working on “Antioch College: The Arthur Morgan Years”, due out in December 2018. Chlanda also talks on writing, self-publishing, and firefighting. In April 2018, he gave two talks at the Columbus library on self-publishing and avoiding scams as an author. He was a featured speaker at the 2017 Indie Author Day event at the Boone County Library. He's also given talks at the Kenton County Library, Louisville Library, and various fire museums. He was born in and raised in New York City (born 1961 - ). Chlanda came to Yellow Springs to go to Antioch College. When Maples (the college fire department) found out Chlanda had been an ER Tech in a Manhattan emergency room, they made him join. Chlanda fell in love with the fire service and after college, he joined the village fire department, ending up taking injury retirement as a fire lieutenant. Chlanda started writing his first book, "Maples: A History of the Antioch College Fire Department", a history of the only student-run fire department in the world, for something to do in between surgeries and rehab. When it sold over 2600 copies the first year, he thought he could make a living at this writing thing. He lives outside Cincinnati, Ohio, but wishes he could be in New York City.
