There are millions of cells that work in tandem to keep all of the automatic systems in the body, like the heart beating, the lungs taking in oxygen, the neutrons firing, etc., as well as with the voluntary systems that we use to move, talk, and eat. As with any machine, the body needs fuel in order to continue to work and move. While a car is fueled by gasoline or electricity, the human body is fueled by the food it consumes. All fuel that the body has access to starts as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, and alcohol that are consumed by the body, however, the body has a preferred fuel.
