Michael Marx is one of the premier environmental corporate campaigners in the world. After serving as Campaign Director at Rainforest Action Network and the Sierra Club, US, he cofounded and was executive director of ForestEthics and founded Corporate Ethics International, where he started the Business Ethics Network for corporate campaigners. In the last thirty years, he has directed or played a leading role in large corporate campaigns targeting Mitsubishi, The Home Depot, PepsiCo, Walmart, and TransCanada. He has designed and advised corporate campaigns for the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, Pew Charitable Trusts, ClimateWorks Foundation, Sea Change Foundation, Panta Rhea Foundation, and Hewlett Foundation. Prior to his environmental work, Michael was a business consultant to Fortune 500 companies, including Hewlett-Packard, TransAmerica, and Pacific Bell. He was also a trial consultant in large civil cases, including Shell Oil Company v Rocky Mountain Arsenal facility (made famous by Rachel Carson’s book Silent Spring). Michael has a PhD in communications from the University of Wisconsin and has taught courses in persuasion and organizational behavior. In Michael's personal life he has had a passion for fly fishing since the 1980s. His adventures have taken him to Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Chile, Canada, and Slovenia, and inspired his memoir, Life as a River.
