LTC Michael B. Lennon (Ret) attended undergraduate at Pennsylvania Military College and received a PhD in biochemistry from Temple Medical School and a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He served on active duty with the 82nd Airborne Division and attended the Special Forces Qualification Course in 1982. He served with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) for four years as Group Veterinarian and OIC for all medical training for Special Forces medics, including a stint as surgical instructor at Med Lab, JFK Special Warfare Center and School.. As a Reserve Officer he served almost 10 years with the 11th Special Forces as Preventive Medicine Officer and Group Surgeon, including missions with the 7th Special Forces to Central America. He was XO of the 450th Civil Affairs Battalion (ABN) with the 82nd ABN during Operation Desert Storm. He also served with the 404th CA Bn (FID/UW), going on several missions with the 10th SF to Eastern Europe and with the 3rd SF and 96th CA Bn to southern Africa. He was assigned as the Deputy Surgeon (IMA) at United States Special Operations Command in Tampa, Florida shortly before 9/11. He was activated and loaned to the 5th SF and 3rd Bn, 3rd SF during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan from 2001-2002. He recently returned from his second tour in Afghanistan with US Army Special Operations Command as Operations Officer/Deputy Surgeon, USASOC Surgeon cell, supporting the Joint Special Operations Task Force and Civil Military Operations Task Force. Some of his awards and badges include the Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Special Forces Tab, Combat Medical Badge with Star, Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutists Badge, and Scuba Badge. He retired from the Army in 2010. He is the author of numerous scientific and military articles.
