Melikia Gaino, a native of Washington, DC, is known for her urban fiction/ romance style of writing. Her passion for writing started her sophomore year of college at Johnson C. Smith University where she studied Biology. The passion and inspiration came from her friends that encouraged her to continue to write her short stories for their enjoyment. After years of creating stories, Melikia decided to self-publish one of her books in 2012. Deciding that she would like for her writing to be read by more readers, she contacted Shameek Speight and is now apart of True Glory Publication. Melikia’s style of writing touches on events that happen in everyday life: drug abuse, physical abuse, cheating, lying, death, etc. She uses a lot of characters so each reader can relate to at least one character’s story and understand their struggle. Her motto: “Never let the negative things people say or do bring you down. Just keep smiling and doing what God has planned for you”.
