The Personal Side:
Marty is a devout family man, a father of three, he struggles daily to balance his work life, his passions, and his family life. At the best of times, the three converge. Marty is an Expert chess player, a scrabble enthusiast, an athlete, and a perpetual student. He loves playing, competing, teaching, learning, and living. He recently discovered Twitter, produced his first YouTube video, and is an active participant in various discussion groups. One of his passions is solving riddles - ones like he tackles with his co-authors in his first book, "Why Organizations Struggle So Hard To Improve So Little: Overcoming Organizational Immaturity."

In Martin's second book, "Metrics: How to Improve Key Business Results" he introduces a simple process for developing a metrics program, a process which demystifies the concepts and principles necessary to be successful. The book was released December 2011.

His latest two books are centered on professional development; The Professional Development Toolbox and Don't Manage...Coach! Both were written to unlock simple truths, making meaningful professional development plans a reality.

The Professional Side:
Marty is a strategy and planning consultant in the Office of Information Technologies at the University of Notre Dame, Notre Dame, IN. Marty is an accomplished public speaker and personal career coach. He specializes in Vision Setting, Strategic Planning, Professional Development Plans, Using Champions to Succeed, and Metrics. Martin has a Masters in human resource development from Webster University. He has published numerous articles on metrics, taught occupational leadership studies for Purdue University, and received the Quality Improvement Advocate award for his work in teaching quality management principles.

He is the President and founder of the Consortium for the Establishment of Information Technology Performance Standards ( and is currently working on a book on how to create Professional Development Plans.
