Marilyn Gardiner makes her home in Central Illiinois. At the age of eight, a library came to the small town where she lived and (according to her mother) she began devouring books like a horde of hungry locusts. Shortly thereafter, the desire to write her own stories began to assert itself. Her first office was her bed and she wrote at night, under the covers with a flashlight, and naively thought no one knew what she was doing. When she finally got up the courage to submit a story for publication, it sold! Dreams of fame and fortune died immediately, however, when it was a long time before the second story sold. For several years she published in religious houses, then came children's magazines like Cricket, and multiple articles in newspapers. Her credits include having successfully taught writing on a junior college level and independent creative writing courses. She taught in an Adult Education program (teaching adults to read), volunteered in elementary schools by fostering reading and writing skills – and finally she began to market her novels. As a romance novelist, Gardiner has ten published books on the shelf, two more as yet unpublished, and is currently working on still another novel. Four of the published books are included in a series: The Women of Winsom. Under the umbrella of romance she has two paranormal books, two historicals, several suspense and adventure, and an inspirational. Her writing credits include all the mainline religious house organs, the Chicago Tribune, Decatur Herald and Review and other newspapers, Cricket Magazine, St. Anthony Messenger, Wings ePress and many others. She has also received numerous awards, as well as four star reviews for the three novels she submitted to Romantic Times. From time to time, she does a good bit of public speaking. Hobbies include knitting, jigsaw puzzles and her passion: music. Until recently she sang with a large chorale, and has done solo and ensemble work all over the eastern half of the United States. Two years ago Gardiner visited her home town. The library is now a large, modern facility and she was thrilled to find her books just where she’d promised herself they would be all those years ago.
