A daughter of Mexican immigrants born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Maria Wihl lives in Okotoks, Alberta, with her husband Zach, their two young daughters, Adeline and Evelyn, and baby boy Gabriel. As a homesteading enthusiast, Maria is accomplishing her goal of self-sufficiency and natural living one compost pile at a time. She dedicates her time to homeschooling her children and forging a mini-homestead in her backyard. Maria also graduated from the Alberta University of the Arts with a Bachelor's degree in Illustration and Graphic Design and has a side gig of freelance illustrating. She is deeply passionate about reconnecting with where our food comes from. After countless hours of research and experimenting, Maria decided to put her valuable information and advice to paper and self-publish her first book, Soil Yourself!, in hopes of helping the average person take a crack at sustainable living.
