Margaret Dilloway

Margaret Dilloway is the author of adult and middle grade fiction. Her next book is SUMMER OF A THOUSAND PIES, a heartfelt middle grade contemporary story featuring the Great British Bake-Off, a mountain community, animals, and friendship, out April 2019 from Balzer + Bray.

She spent a year teaching creative writing to middle schoolers who mostly had not chosen creative writing and therefore were even more resistant than regular middle schoolers; she's woken up during surgery twice; and she gave birth without pain medication once, which all basically adds up to her being a low-key superhero. Her ancestors include samurai and coal miners, farmers and teachers, immigrants who fled the Potato Famine and a mother who married a sailor.

Awards include the ALA's Asian/Pacific Islander Honor Award for Children's Literature; the ALA Literary Tastes Award for Women's Fiction; and the Pulpwood Queens' Bonus Book of the Year Award.

She enjoys performing long-form improv, hiking, and playing with her dog, a Goldendoodle who's basically a living teddy bear. She does not enjoy cleaning and is not very good at it.
