Makeba Yasmeen was born and raised in Albany, Georgia and currently resides in Virginia. She has taught within the field of elementary special education for eight years, and holds four degrees. Makeba maintains a passion for writing, and has always possessed a gift of creative expression. She began writing literary works at the age of 26. Her first book, "32 Years of Keba: The Memoir of a Southern Girl," was published in October, 2012. She is currently working on her second novel, with plans of having it published by late 2014. When Makeba is not writing, she enjoys spending time with family and playing the piano.
