Lisa Schuman, LCSW, is an award-winning researcher, speaker, therapist, host of the podcast, Donor Conception Conversations, and the creator of My Lifebook (https://tinyurl.com/3w3apxs4), a book designed to chronicle your child’s journey, from your heart to your home. She was the only mental health professional chosen to testify to the State Senate Judiciary Committee on the subject of legalizing compensated surrogacy in New York and is the former Director of Mental Health Services for Illume Fertility and Gay Parents to Be. In her many years of treating patients who need assistance to build their families, she came to understand that the support and education she provided could make their paths to parenthood easier. To fill that need, she founded the Center for Family Building, a comprehensive resource, offering products, videos, counseling services, and more. Ms. Schuman, who has personally experienced almost every facet of family building including fertility treatment, surrogacy and adoption lives in Connecticut with her husband and three children.
