Up and coming author Mrs. Latoya Renea Lee (L.R. Lee) possessed an early love of reading and writing. At a young age, she became a lover of romance novels. She was enamored by love stories and how the concept of happily ever after always seemed imminent. She also knew that the stories and characters lacked authenticity to her life as a young African American girl growing up on the south side of Chicago. She wanted to read and write stories that reflected more cultural and economic diversity, hence the seed was planted, and her artistic journey began. L.R. Lee had a spirit of giving and service seeing the deficits in her native Chicago communities and wanted to make a difference. In 2003 she decided to become a member of the OES (Order of Eastern Stars) organization to sow seeds back into the urban communities of which she was a product. Professionally, as an educator, her passion for writing was notably present in ensuring that children had a strong foundation in reading and writing. A few years later noticing that there was still a significant void felt despite her accomplishments, what was once a spark was re-ignited to a flame. The journey to publication had begun and with more determination than ever before, she sought out the dream to be self-published. Follow author L.R.
