A first time writer, I am a father of three children and seven grandchildren. I spent over 40 years in the Grocery Retailing Industry starting out bagging groceries and finishing as the president of a national sales and marketing solutions company in the CPG Industry. After retiring, I decided it was time to write a story that has been in my head for over 30 years! I realized my story was an important one that might help other families experiencing the death of one of their children. I am certainly no expert in the challenges that affect young parents navigating themselves through the landscape of these very difficult situations. I am just a father who lived the process, the anguish, the helplessness, the confusion, the pain, and somehow found himself on the other side of the street all parents have to traverse. The lessons learned are common, unavoidable, and somewhat predicable, but my story doesn't end at a funeral. It just begins the next phases that were inevitable for me and might be helpful for other parents trying find their ways through one of the most difficult and stressful periods of their lives.
