Kimberly Wyse longed to be a wife and mother all her life, but things didn't go the way she planned. While she waited for her dreams to come true, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and went to work for a Christian publishing house in Nashville, TN. After six years there, she felt called to go to seminary and earned a Master of Arts degree in Practical Theology with an emphasis in Leadership Studies. She then followed in her father’s footsteps and entered full-time ministry. She accepted a position as the women's minister at her church in Nashville. Several years later, when a family friend from childhood asked her to be his bride, she left the city to become a farmer’s wife. Kimberly returned to her childhood home in the rural Midwest and settled into life as a homemaker. Just one week before their one-year anniversary, Rick and Kimberly welcomed their first child into the world. Fifteen months later, their second child was born. Kimberly soaked up all the goodness of two precious babies. Three years later, the cherry on top of their little family arrived with a bang. Baby #3 brought with him a surprise diagnosis of Down syndrome, congenital heart defects, pulmonary hypertension, and a long list of other challenges. Rick and Kimberly went deep into the world of last-resort life-support (ECMO), feeding tubes, supplemental oxygen, early intervention therapies, and special needs parenting. When their son was about nine months old, Kimberly felt God prompting her that it was time to tell their story. Perplexed by God’s timing, she clarified, “Now?” The quiet words of the Lord confirmed for her, “It’s time.” Thus began her quest to write a book about their experiences, sneaking in moments to pour out her heart onto the pages of her weary laptop, and speaking to groups both large and small about it all. This book is the author’s love song to her Savior. She thought she had “retired” from ministry, but has found a new calling to share about God’s goodness, even in the midst of very hard things.
