When a normal day turned into Kim’s worst nightmare by the explosion in her brain, her life path was altered forever. So little was known about Brain Injury whether a ruptured aneurysm like hers, TBI which she also went on to suffer, stroke, AVMs and so many other malady’s originating from both inside and outside the brain…That survivors who had been fortunate enough to have their lives spared, were never warned about the take away residuals that would forever change their lives. Kim’s book led to being a weekly host on Brain Injury Radio Network, where she learned more from other survivors and professional guests in a few years, than she had learned in nearly two decades from the traditional medical model. She is now a recognized Advocate for Brain Injury, poised to write follow up books. Kim’s other interests include photography, genealogy and love of animals (especially her dogs). Kim’s photos have been featured in many notable publications; she received a National Outstanding Community Service Award for her speaking, worldwide radio shows, and support of Veteran’s groups, and an Award from TBI Survivor Network for Outstanding Contributions to the Radio Network. Kim’s radio show Recovery Now is a gathering place for anyone seeking insights from the challenges of life on life's terms. We discuss useful tools that have helped us lighten the load, of our journey through recovery. This is a "we" recovery program, because it is in the "we," that we find the new "me." When we face our mortality, the challenges of change are inevitable and the program supports forward movement in that process. We focus on the four A's of Recovery: Awareness, Acceptance, Action and Adaptation. This is a place for survivor's striving to become thrivers and for that, you need to tap into your inner Warrior!
