Hello, reader! (sorry to defy conventions, but I can't stand writing about myself in the third person. It's just weird.) I spend a good portion of my time masquerading as dragons larger than some cities, but when I'm not doing that I like to spend my time picking people's brains. No, no, I don't mean learning from their experiences, I like the taste of brain matter! Okay, okay, I'll try to be serious for a minute (I can't promise for more than one minute though). I've been a storyteller for almost as long as I can remember. It started when I was nine. In school, we had an assignment to write a one-page short story. That night, I wrote a nine-page "masterpiece" about a magical pair of shoes and their journeys throughout the western United States before finding an owner who would properly care for and appreciate them. From there, my storytelling grew into DMing D&D games (and other roleplaying games). Naturally, the games eventually led me to start writing stories. My first book (okay, really just a novella) is a labor of love that really isn't finished yet. It's called "The Fall of an Overlord" and is currently in its fifth version, with the sixth and final one coming later in 2018. The first version was a one-page summary of a historical event in my fictional world, Val-Harra. From there, it grew into a seven-page short story. Shortly thereafter, however, I realized there was a lot more backstory to the event. So I expanded it again, this time into a twenty-five-page long-ish short story. Again though, I realized there was more to the story. I rewrote it again, this time with a new character involved to flesh things out, and it became a fifty-two page novelette. At that point, I envisioned the whole story (my series, The Calamity) as a series of twelve to fifteen short stories of around 25-50 pages each that I would eventually publish as a single volume to tell the complete story. But... that didn't work out, as I realized there was so much more story when I sat down to revise the novelette. So here we are. I have "The Fall of an Overlord" at over one-hundred-fifty pages, which is only one half of the original story (okay, more like a third). The second part of the original story is my second publication, "Rise of the Overlord." (which is fully complete and will not be expanded) (yes, I realize the titles seem backward. Once you read them, you'll see that it actually does make sense) Recently, I've realized (again!) that "Fall" is not complete. There is much more story there that I have in my head but never made it onto the page. And since readers have been clamoring for more of the story and that world, I'm expanding the novella once more into a full-fledged epic fantasy novel (likely to be 500+ pages) which will be the conclusion of a separate series entitled “Blood of the Dragons.” You can thank me when it's finally finished. If everything goes as planned, the Blood of the Dragons series should be published in its entirety by the end of 2018. Back to the moral of this story, though. The length I originally envisioned for the entire Calamity series has already been overtaken just by the two short books I have. The next one, which should be released in June 2018, is already longer than both of them combined! Obviously I have a problem with keeping to shorter lengths! But let's face it, in the world of Epic Fantasy, this is rarely a bad thing. I hope you enjoy the stories. Oh, wait, this was supposed to be about me and not just my stories, right? Well, okay.
