Ken W. Brown grew up wondering how the same people could be both caring and cruel. As a child, he found solace in the natural earthen walls of an old storm cellar. In turbulent college years, he joined marches for peace and human rights and witnessed people change from respectful tolerance to hateful rage within moments. He still found balance in nature, diving undersea and climbing mountains. But his questions about good and evil, and the purpose of human beings, only grew. To explore more, he journeyed throughout the U.S. then went on a three-year trek around the world. Just as they had across America, people in every major religion and over seventy countries invited him into their lives. Caring people kept him from dying of malaria contracted in Cameroon and hepatitis in Afghanistan. Alongside the kindness, he also witnessed cruelty beyond imagining. From the Author “The novel is based on a true story, but it’s your experience of the story, rather than mine, that I hope you believe in. Experiencing what it means to be a human being living within a conscious Earth shook me to my bones. I changed jobs because of it. For over twenty-seven years I helped businesses and organizations of all sizes reduce their impact on the environment. “Writing Call To Purpose flowed spontaneously because it came from reliving experiences. Writing it as a novel, rather than as a history book, allowed me to convey the richness, intensity, conflict and tremendous courage of those I found who walked Earth in ancient days. When the characters struggled, I struggled, and tears flowed. I rarely knew what one would do next until I typed the next sentence.
