The Screenplay, Habit of the Oder written by award winning screenplay artist and Director Nick Westfall has been picked up for Movie rights! Kathleen A. Barreca MSEd, LPC, is a licensed professional clinical counselor currently taking time off because God said so ! (his timing, not mine). She was born and raised in Girard, Ohio; do not blink because you will miss it; to an Italian/Catholic family that ate pasta every Sunday and Thursday. This is where she acquired her life's philosophy of helping people feel better. When Kathleen was growing up if she had a fever, or got into a fight, was disappointed or depressed, her grandmothers' (yes that is plural) would say, "Mange, eat this, it will make you feel better". And so the Therapist in her was birthed. Kathleen, a 2010 graduate of Youngstown State University School of Graduate Studies in Community Counseling also served as Adjunct Professor at ITT-Tech in Youngstown, Ohio teaching courses in psychology ( good fit for a neurotic Catholic Emeritus). her specialization is death & dying ( "yes mom, I know you think it's morbid), where she presented at both Community and Professional workshops speaking about "The Newest in Dinner Talk: Death over Dinner". In 2013 a medical incident that should have taken her life, led to the 360degree turn coming from her having a Near-Death Experience. At the tender age of three months, she was present as her aunt became a full fledged, dressed head to toe in black, nun. And so began the beginning of her Catholic Neuroses; every time her aunt came home to visit ( praise the Lord it was not often) she ran screaming to her mom, "There's a scary lady all dressed in black trying to grab me". We know she is a prodigy, but it was several years before she formed a full sentence. We can only shudder to imagine what it sounded like in Italian/American baby talk. These days if she isn't trying to hide the picture her mother hung downstairs when she was Homecoming Queen for the city of Girard's Annual Festival, or seeing her shrink; you can find her earthing, feeding the squirrels, collecting crystals or marketing the book about that scary lady all dressed in black. Great News: The book has been picked up by Langtons International out of New York; and Nick Westfall, has adapted the book into a screenplay. Habit of the Order. God is great....
