Five things you may not know about me: 1. I lived in a log cabin in northern New York. One winter morning the temperature outside was 11 below zero (Fahrenheit)! 2. I've lived in four states: New York (spoiler above); Maryland; Washington; and California. 3. I am a registered nurse, and I'm certified in Infection Control. Don't forget - wash your hands! 4. I have a dog, Ginger, who is part Chihuahua and part French Bulldog. We sent her saliva for a genetic test. 5. I love being outside in my garden. It's one of my favorite places. OK, now for the regular stuff: Kara A. Mullane lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family. She began her academic journey with a degree in Sociology from Ithaca College in New York, where she developed a strong interest in human behavior and social dynamics. Her passion for healthcare led her to earn a Bachelor of Nursing degree from the University of Washington. She later completed a Master's degree in Nursing Administration at the University of California, San Francisco, and has worked in nursing and infection prevention with a focus on improving patient care. Kara’s writing reflects her wide-ranging interests, including science, gardening, the environment, reading, and community. She enjoys exploring themes of curiosity, kindness, and connection in her work, and values storytelling as a way to spark thought and encourage inclusivity. Inspired by the people and natural beauty around her, Kara continues to write stories that reflect a respect for both the planet and one another.
