"Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards."
--Soren Kierkegaard

I've been an ER physician for over 15 years and have experienced a lot during that time. But as soon as I think I've seen it all, I'm faced with something new and unexpected. As Erin says in AN ETERNITY IN A MOMENT: "People always manage to find new and interesting ways to end up in the ER." My writing is inspired by some of these stories, along with others I've read or heard about. I especially like to write about the humorous cases--and there are a lot of them!

Until a few years into college I thought I would become a police officer, and I get to live out this dream out through writing. I really enjoy incorporating the criminal element into the story. And in AN ETERNITY IN A MOMENT I place special emphasis on the narcotic crisis in the United States. But Detective Luke Mathis has plenty of other problems to deal with in New Dublin as well!

AN ETERNITY IN A MOMENT begins with a lot of drama, and drama continues to unfold throughout the story, but there is plenty of humor as well. Life would be miserable if we couldn't find the humor in it, and humor can serve as both a shield and a sword. The great Mark Twain would say: "The human race has only one really effective weapon, and that is laughter."
