I wanted to be an artist, but reality dictated that I earn a living other ways. After obtaining a PhD in political science from the University of Illinois, I began a series of jobs that ultimately led me to positions in the US Department of State in Washington. This was great because it enabled me to travel the world as well as to learn the ways of governmental bureaucracies. I became an expert in arms control and defense affairs, which led to my writing five non-fiction books on arms control issues under the pen name Kathleen C. Bailey. In addition, I have published four books under the pen name K. C. Bailey. The most recent is MOMENTS. This volume is in two parts—the first is entirely fiction stories and the second, autobiographical. I wrote some of them many years ago, so they span from the 1980s to the present. Some are humorous; others are philosophical. Of course, I believe they are all enjoyable and very entertaining! Another book that's autobiographical is FILMING AN INDIE, which describes my experiences in making a feature length film from my screenplay, REVENGE IN KIND (also available as a novella). When I assembled a group of film artists to make the movie, I expected turmoil, excitement, and reward. I wasn’t disappointed. Making a film with a group of strangers you are unlikely to ever see again is a unique experience that reveals the best and worst of people. But it is like a group hike in the desert—you have to do your part to get through it. It was a fascinating time and I think the book captures the magic of it.
