Beautiful
You get the best of Juliet Marillier in a fairy-tale retelling. Her sensitive prose, her attention to detail, and her grasp of human emotion—even when the characters are anything but—add up to a beautiful story every time. In this tale, Hulde is a young princess destined to marry the most handsome prince in the land. Or that’s what she thinks. In reality, the real adventure doesn’t begin until after her handsome prince is saved (not by her) and gone. What happens when the fairy tale doesn’t go as planned? In this case you get a young woman learning to live and love in the real world, which isn’t quite as perfect as a storybook, but far more exciting and satisfying.

Heart’s Blood
This Beauty and the Beast retelling is set when the Norman conquests were taking place in Ireland. You wouldn’t guess it’s a retelling though—the level of detail makes this tale much more real than any dreamlike fairy-tale imagining would be. There’s a strong heroine at the center, and narrator Ruth Urquhart’s delightful Irish accent really pulls the listener into the story. Listeners rightfully so call Heart’s Blood "engrossing" and "of the heart."

Enchanting
"Juliet Marillier is the most superb story teller. Wildwood Dancing is inspired by a different mythology and culture than most of her other books, which take place in a Celtic environment. Like her other stories this is full of colorful & engaging characters, great descriptions and an intricate storyline. This one has a little more tongue-in-cheek humor and a slightly less on-the-edge-of-your-seat, finger-chewing tension as some of her other, longer books in series, like the Bridei books, or the Sevenwaters series... So, even though Wildwood Dancing is a tad less painfully suspenseful, it still offers plenty of surprises and entertainment. It was deliciously fun and hard to pause.The narrator did an excellent job too. This one is highly recommended."
