Joyce is a Sydney-based author, journalist and a former arts editor of The Sydney Morning Herald. She has been a journalist for more than 30 years, including in London, Hong Kong and Sydney.

She has written on arts and culture since 1994 and interviewed many leading cultural figures including Cate Blanchett, Annie Leibovitz, Tom Stoppard, Clive James, Patti Smith and the Dalai Lama.

When she's not at her computer she might be found in the Himalayas. She has travelled extensively in Asia, including to Bhutan, Tibet, India, Nepal, China and Indonesia.
