Joseph Spada is a Licensed Practical Nurse and Certified Geriatric Care Provider. He is the owner of Spada Homes, Inc. and Founder of Adult Family Homes Central, LLC. He has in-depth knowledge of Washington State's long-term care industry, particularly adult family homes. Blending high quality care standards learned from living and working at the University Hospital in Geneva, Switzerland, family values from his Italian origin and upbringing (born in Sicily), and nursing skills acquired in the USA, Joseph left the hospital and nursing home world in 1991 after realizing he could bring a fresh twist on de-institutionalizing long-term care by delivering highly personalized, competent, and loving nursing care in small residential homes. His senior care homes have since improved and enriched the lives of hundreds of seniors and their family by delivering outstanding personal care. Joseph is a faculty instructor at Seattle Community College teaching adult family home providers the State-required AFH Administrator course, covering topics such as licensing and compliance, business operation, staff management, resident care and rights, resident assessments, care planning, marketing, and more. He has taught First-Aid and CPR as a Red Cross instructor and tutored nursing students for North Seattle Community College. Joseph served as a board member and past president of the Snohomish-King County Association of Adult Family Home Providers. In the early 1990s, he helped form the statewide association of Adult Family Homes in Washington State, today called the Washington State Residential Care Council (WSRCC). As a small business consultant, Joseph blends his business acumen with fresh marketing strategies to help care home providers and “micro-preneurs” overcome operational challenges, realize greater success in their business, and most importantly, to achieve distinction and excellence in the marketplace. Joseph is tri-lingual, fully fluent in French, Italian and English. He lives in Seattle with his wife and three [grown] daughters. He loves playing acoustic guitar and bakes outrageously delicious – so he’s been told – Sicilian-style pizzas.
