John was raised in Simi Valley, California. Ever since he was a boy he dreamed of serving in the U.S. Military and Law enforcement.
At the age of thirteen he joined the Simi Valley Police Explorer program to be better prepared for his future in the military and as a law enforcement officer. But tragically during a eye exam, the doctor informed him of a severe detached retina. Two days later he was in surgery to repair the detachment.
During his attempt to join the U.S. Military he was medically disqualified due to his eye injury. Resulting in the shattering of his dream. Several months later he received the news that one of his friends was killed in action, in Ramadi, Iraq.
In honor of his friend he wrote his first book.

After self publishing his first book he continued writing and now has two more short stories available on amazon.
John Gunn also started his own photography, art and clothing design company called Gunn’s Photo Art and has been photographing and directing photo-shoots since 2001.
In 2013 John was the still photographer for one of his friends student films and ever since then, his passion for film has grown into a career.
During the same year John met Chris Salinas and joined his production company ASNP, as the film director.
In the future John plans to continue directing films and writing books and one day hopes to turn his first book (The Price I Paid, Ramadi.) into a feature film.
