John Hansen is a retired wildlife biologist and wildland firefighter. He grew up on a ranch in southern Idaho and has spent his entire life working with the animals and land of the West. His interest in Western history was stimulated at an early age when he learned of his great grandmother's single-handed capture of bank robbers who came to her family's ranch for food. Since her husband was away with the posse looking for the robbers, she seized the opportunity to get the drop on the robbers and march them to the root cellar at gunpoint. John is a member of the Western Writers of America. His work has been a three-time finalist for the Will Rogers Medallion Award, two-time finalist for the Laramie Award and winner of the 2016 National Indie Excellence Award for best western for his novel, A BAD PLACE TO BE. In addition, it was also selected as a finalist in the Action/Adventure category for the 2016 Independent Author's Network - Book of the Year Award. John and his wife Debi along with their rescue dog and two cats live in Western Montana. Visit John's web site for more info. http://johnhansen.net
