Joe Augustyn

Joe Augustyn

Joe Augustyn's love of all things spooky and strange was instilled by his grandmother, who told stories of ghosts and exorcisms she'd witnessed as a farm girl in Eastern Europe. Compulsively creative since childhood, Joe started writing stories in grade school and in his teen years won awards for his oil and acrylic paintings, but was later drawn into the world of Hollywood filmmaking. After winning a Nissan FOCUS Award for writing he completed a Producing Fellowship at The American Film Institute (AFI). He wrote and produced the original cult horror film NIGHT OF THE DEMONS and followed it with a sequel, and a movie based on the legend of Lilith called NIGHT ANGEL.

Joe quit screenwriting to focus on writing novels, a more satisfying medium for a writer because unlike movies it provides a direct unfiltered connection from the writer to the reader. An active member of the Horror Writers Association (HWA) he currently serves as Membership Coordinator. Joe shares a genuinely haunted but happy home in Philadelphia with two cats and an occasional mischievous spirit, a subject he covered in GHOSTWRITER: THE POLAROID GHOST & OTHER TRUE TALES OF THE PARANORMAL. His novels include DEAD RAIN: A TALE OF THE ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE, and THE NINE LIVES OF FELICIA MILLER, a dark supernatural thriller about a teen girl who shapeshifts into various types of cats to exact revenge on a band of evil boys.
