On October 5, 2019, Joan Kay (JK Bovi) was the grateful recipient of the Gift of Life from a liver donor. It is from her struggles and experiences that she wrote The Giving, stories of organ donation. She hopes that with this book, if she helps one person, then it is enough. She is also the author of 5 humorous paranormal books that take place in Savannah. She loves exploring the hidden haunts of America’s most haunted city. These books are light, fun, and guaranteed to make everyone laugh --- even the dead! JK Bovi wrote 4 Native American romance books based on the indigenous people of Western Massachusetts. She lived in Westfield for over 20 years and researched the history of the Connecticut River Valley. It is from her studies that she presents accurate historical stories of 1642-1676, including the Pocumtuck-Mohawk War and King Philip’s War. Joan Kay grew up in Delaware and graduated from East Carolina University School of Art. She is a military brat and has traveled to many different places, experiencing a variety of cultures. She worked for 10 years in the composing room of The Wall Street Journal and is a retired graphic designer. She currently lives in Savannah, Georgia, with her husband.
