Jim’s passion for history began when he was a boy having read “The Fighter Aces of the RAF”. Since then, he has amassed a comprehensive library covering such eras as the Napoleonic Wars, The American Civil War and of course the two World Wars as well as more recent conflicts. Jim’s interest is not confined to a comfortable chair in front of the fire. He has furthered his knowledge visiting the battlefields of Waterloo, Gettysburg and the Normandy Beaches as well as many museums across the world. A true outdoors person, Jim enjoys fly fishing and country pursuits including horse riding, having once been a professional jockey riding on the flat in the U.K., France and New Zealand between 1984 & 1991. Jim achieved a lifelong ambition gaining his Private Pilot’s Licence in 2019. He regularly flies a Piper Cherokee of which he owns a share. Now retired, Jim lives on a small holding in the Dorset countryside with his wife Louise. Together they have 4 children.
