Writer of outstanding career in the field of fantastic epics. He was awarded the "Author Revelation in Fantastic Literature" prize in Málaga (2009) for El Enviado, the first volume of his epic saga. His studies in Art History and his degree in History come together with his literary vocation in the creation of the saga "La Flor de Jade", which was first published by a traditional publisher in 2009 and then by an independent publisher in 2011. Since then, Vilches, who is based in Madrid and works with his usual illustrator, Javier Charro, has become a committed advocate of the new model of independent publishing, the digital format and a close relationship with his readers, without intermediaries. This commitment has manifested itself in a policy of low prices for his digital works and in numerous gestures and interventions on the net in defence of the author's freedom to have direct control over his own work as a viable and worthy alternative to traditional publishing. "La Flor de Jade", his most famous work, is a pentatonic epic of classical inspiration, but with a deep and intense work of characterisation, plot and rhythm which makes it a pre-eminent piece in the fantasy genre. Its strength lies in the fact that it has been over a decade in the making, with six volumes already published and a seventh to complete this epic opera. In other areas of literature, he has ventured into romantic historical fiction with the "Irene" series, set up like old "chapter delivery" story magazines or in the format of a television series. He has also collaborated closely with the illustrators Luis and Romulo Royo in the multidisciplinary project "Malefic Time" and has written the novel "Codex Apocalypse", published by Norma Editorial, which completes the vision proposed by the picture books. In the field of poetry, he has published several volumes of poetry, such as "Latidos" and "Antes gritará el silencio".
