An avid writer, James sharpened his storytelling skills in screenwriting workshops led by Lew Hunter, the legendary instructor of UCLA’s famed Screenwriting 434 class. That cinematic foundation gives Dance of the Heart its fast pace, vivid dialogue, and a touch of Hollywood flair. James was born in Michigan and spent most of his early years in the rainy Northwest before following the sun to San Diego, Santa Fe, and Maui. After retiring from the University of California, San Diego, he relocated to Hawaii and worked for a nonprofit organization based on Maui dedicated to empowering children and their families to reach their full potential. When he’s not writing, James can be found debating movie plot holes, experimenting with questionable recipes, or walking on the beach. He currently lives on Maui and is working on his next book release.
