J.J. Clarke, award-winning author of the Kate Anderson Mystery series Dared to Run, Dared to Fly, and Dared to Return, draws on her extensive experience in law enforcement and her degree in psychology to craft compelling characters such as Kate Anderson, the heroine in her novels. "As an investigator and parole officer, I learned first-hand how to handle a weapon and instructed others in firearms use. I use that experience in my writing,” said Clarke. J.J. spent her career in the State of Missouri where she was a district administrator and sat on the Parole Board. Writing concise, factual reports for the court system was an important part of her job. After marrying her husband Barry Johnson, she wrote grants and assisted in restoring The Tillman House, an historic landmark museum in Brookfield, Missouri. Although Clarke has been writing all of her life, six years ago she joined a weekly critique group, and the novel Dared to Return came alive. She praises her writer’s group for encouraging her to continue to write and develop strong characters with dynamic dialogue. “I hope my book is entertaining and thought-provoking. I wrote it for book clubs—a short, weekend read with topics for discussion that promote engaged conversation.” Clarke published her second book, Dared to Run, in January 2020. It is actually the first in the series about Kate Anderson, a parole officer who is stalked by a politically-connected deputy sheriff, and was followed in December 2020 by Dared to Fly, a short read "highlight reel" connecting the dots for fans of the series. She loves to hear from her readers. Please contact her at JJClarkeauthor@gmail.com, her website JJClarkeAuthor.com or on Facebook, J.J. Clarke, Author.
