JD Mitchell grew up on the Central Valley of California, moved to the Bay Area to pursue independent video-art projects, until receiving his M.A. in U.S. History in 2008 with a specialization in the historical construction of the "American West." Now living in Berkeley, he splits his time between teaching and freelance writing, and the pursuit of short story writing and blogging.
