Helena Dias Scott is a Nutritionist and writer born in Caracas in 1968, into a family with a Venezuelan mother and an American father, whom she loves deeply. When she was a child, Helena was severely overweight and struggled with accepting her body. That led her to be bullied and made fun of at school constantly. After a long time of being ashamed of herself, at just 12 years old, she realized she had had enough of being a prisoner of a body she didn't belong to, so she began reading books on nutrition, taking her health into her own hands, and in a short time she drastically changed her diet and lost all the extra pounds. Her change was so drastic that even her bullies could hardly recognize her. Growing up, she decided to follow on her passion for alimentation and human health, completing a major in Nutrition and Biochemistry at Otago University. Considering the fantastic results obtained on herself and how she managed to maintain them over time, thanks to diet and power yoga, she decided that the time had come to help other people regain self-esteem and well-being. Helena then begins to write books to allow her readers to take responsibility for their health by learning to prevent future diseases and starting to feel good about themselves, thanks to proper nutrition and physical activity. As she often says: the power of a healthy lifestyle is not only to make us lose a few pounds but to develop a mighty self-love that will accompany us all our lives.
