Harry Sullivan: Author Bio (Full Version) Harry Sullivan is a retired nurse and army major, and the author of Reconciling War and Military Trauma. Having worked extensively with survivors of military trauma, he is passionate about supporting the mental health of service personnel, and this theme runs solidly throughout his writing. Harry has served in the U.S. Navy with the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as in the U.S. Army. He began working in the medical field in 1983 and has been focused on mental health for over 20 years. Throughout the five years following his return from service in Iraq as an Army Chief Patient Administrations Divisions Officer, he lived with PTSD himself and used his training and experience in order to heal. Harry successfully overcame his PTSD but is acutely aware of the fundamental lack of training for ex-service personnel returning to civilian life. He has encountered so many other service men and women who have been affected by the mental health effects of adjusting to life after a military career that he is now passionate about using his knowledge and experience to help others. His first book explores the treatment he used to overcome his PTSD and guides other military service people to follow the same path. Harry is happily married with six children. His family is extremely important to him, and he jokes that he likes to do things in threes: three daughters, three sons, and three grandchildren. He is passionate about music and loves to spend his free time playing the saxophone and listening to music.
