Ha Young Shin is a 1.5 generation Korean-American immigrant and a proud alumna of Georgetown University, where she was part of the Georgetown Scholars Program (GSP). She is currently a financial analyst by day and a graduate student by night. Ha Young felt compelled to write Reframing the Hyphen: A Christian Perspective on Immigrant Experiences to share some struggles she faced as an immigrant; struggles such as microaggressions, identity crisis, and deportation proceedings that came with her identity as a Korean-American. Shin writes, “We all have the choice to reframe our circumstances.” She loves shopping at Trader Joe’s, singing with her ukulele, and lifting weights with her husband.
