Gillian Hiscott was born in Plymouth, Devon, England. Her adaptation of Wuthering Heights was toured professionally in the early 1990s and her plays have been shown at the Edinburgh Festival and in London. In 2005 she purchased a school for renovation in Portugal which is the subject of her book Alentejo Magic.
