Welcome, I’m Garrett Sheh, the author of the Art of Poker - Unbeatable Phoenix Strategy. In the book we’ll teach you how to play every situation and more importantly situations to avoid. If I had to summarize the strategy in 2 words, the most important things would be “careful and confident.” Confidence is key in poker, poker is all about having a strong mindset. Having confidence in your game will allow you to not only play longer but also motivate you to compete in the first place. Putting in that necessary work, in order to get good. Confidence => Motivation => Success => Confidence and repeat. A person that believes he’s going to win and a person with the same skill that doesn’t believe he will win, both will be right. Having a positive view of yourself is important in this game, because what you think of yourself becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. There’s nothing wrong with thinking that you’re the best, but don’t to say it out loud because it brings negative attention. Just quietly know that the only way you’ll lose in poker is if I get extremely unlucky with this careful and confident strategy I’m going to give you. One of the best players I knew told me his strategy was that he was optimistic, basically the same idea. He knows he’s going to win because he chooses the optimal lines in all the hands he plays, he was as tight as me, he’d call me up on the phone and we’d talk strategy often, he’s a millionaire now, from poker. You can achieve anything with patience and persistence. It's very hard to beat someone that doesn't give up. At times there were players that would win more than me for a short period but then I’d see them they’d leave early, after a while I’d end up doing way better than them by simply focusing more and being the last one to quit the game every night, my solid strategy turned out to do a lot better than the players that I originally found may have played a bit fancier and had spurts of doing well for short periods, but turned out they would go broke eventually by not putting in the hours and the fancy plays if not tightened up can backfire. Where as my strategy was sound based off of unbeatable patience (not giving up will beat natural talent and will easily beat luck every time.) Often I was hosting the games, and this was one of the best ways to get a good idea of exactly what happens in an entire poker session from start to finish. Become the guy that doesn't give up. Hard work pays, just like any other sport. I often liked the challenge of playing in the biggest game in town, I always studied hard and I knew I could hang. It takes the same amount of effort to play a small game as it does to play a big game, play the game that has the most rewards when you have confidence that you will win, and if you don't then simply study until you do, this book is a great start for you to get on that path to success at the tables, I wish I had this guide when I first started playing poker, lots of shortcuts and gems, there’s so much to the game, you can always get better, that’s why it’s the best game. You have to see things to infinity in poker. The reason why we emphasize patience is because it’s a long run game of patience and discipline. It takes discipline to not go against the rules of math. Self discipline not just in the cards you play but your choices in life. Poker is like life, you get rewarded for playing good and by the book. Think of it like a line and on one side you have positive choices (the winners) and on the other side you have the losing hands (the negative equity, the bad choices) you never want to cross the line, that’s where it takes discipline. I’m going to help you draw that line in poker so that you to stay in the positive side at all the times, you will be surprised where the line is. I guarantee you there are tricks and tactics in this poker book that goes against natural human nature that nobody knows, that’s why it’s so profitable if you know it. You need to read this book before playing another session. I’ll save you so much money. Aim for infinite self discipline when it comes to how you play and what you put in your body, so that you can reach a God like vision for yourself. Pretend that God is using you to experience life on earth living through your senses, don’t cloud his vision, practice self discipline. For example, alcohol and drugs cloud the vision, you cannot think clearly when you don’t treat your body like a temple, you can almost never be too disciplined because when you get sick it sets you back, plus you’ll make mistakes trying to do good, you never want to make a mistake doing something you know is not good for you. It’s hard enough to come out on top trying to do good, when you’re knowingly doing something in the red that’s when you know you have to be more disciplined in your decision making. You need to be tight because if your too loose you won't know where the mistake is, keep things simple. I would even go as far as to cut off things that are even neutral, because that will give you a buffer, there's plenty good, you never have to tip toe around the line, you should always be gaining, never losing. Nobody is perfect nobody’s a Poker God but if you keep learning from mistakes and improving, you can almost feel the next level of power of clarity, that’s what we’re aiming for. If you can play like you can see everyone’s cards, that’s God Mode. People often say that I’m the luckiest, or that I run like God. My senses have not been tainted and that’s made it easier. The important concept is that you want to aim high. It’s better to err on the side of aiming too high for yourself than to aim too small because you will surprise yourself on what you can do when your main project is self improvement. It will become a self fulfilling prophecy when you believe that you’re that good, but you have to study and you have to work long and with the long run in mind.
