Gail Vida Hamburg is a laureled novelist, screenwriter, and journalist, whose work spans multiple genres. A first-generation
American, she spent half a life in England before emigrating to the U.S. Her first novel, The Edge of the World, about the impact of American foreign policy on individual lives, was released in 2007 by Mirare Press. Recognized by the Graham Greene Festival, Bertrand Russell’s The Spokesman, and the 2008 James Fenimore Cooper Prize by the American Society of Historians, it is a frequent text in university creative writing, post-colonial, and war studies programs in the U.S and Asia. Her second novel, Liberty Landing, (Mirare Press, 2018), the first in a trilogy about the American Experiment and Experience was a 2016 finalist for the PEN/Bellwether Prize for Socially Engaged Fiction, recognized at the Palestine Book Awards, and nominated for the 2018 Dayton Literary International Peace Prize. Her latest book is Small Worlds, a collection of fast fiction. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Bennington College, Vermont. She lives in Southern California.
