Fil Munas MD lives on a small farm in rural America, sandwiched between two ponds home to catfish, bluegill, and bass. He is a hobby beekeeper. Born in Sri Lanka, he studied medicine and surgery in India, and later trained as a psychiatrist in the United States. His most recent book, H. sapiens / The Last 12,000 Years, was published in 2022. It aims to deconstruct the provenance and history of our amazing species in the face of many challenges to Earth's ecosphere and the escalating mass extinction of lifeforms on our planet today. Dr. Munas is the author of two previous books, Mission to Earth (2014), and Biology of Religion (2019). The author's nonpartisan and commonsensical approach to this critically important subject of survival for our species during this catastrophic anthropogenic extinction is both unique and instructive. He explains his literary approach to this subject by saying, "I enjoy writing about our shared humanity and our inextricable involvement in this planet's ecosystem as the preeminent species now dominant on Earth. I approach this task with great reverence, not as someone insulated and independent of the web of life, but as an integral part of that imperiled system."
