Erin Austen Abbott grew up in Oxford, Mississippi, before moving to Florida in the mid-80s. She is a freelance writer and photographer who has had work published in dozens of publications. She is also a travel blogger and has a weekly newsletter called The Field Trip Newsletter that explores ways to introduce culture, food, design, art, and nature to children. She has had fine art photography shows in Tampa, Seattle, Boston, Memphis, and Los Angeles; Oxford, MS; Taylor, MS; Charleston, SC; Basel, Switzerland; Milan, Italy; Berlin, Germany; and Water Valley, MS, 1999-2023. She is the author of non-fiction books, How To Make It, and Family Field Trip. In addition, she contributed to Paris by Design and Truth, Love, & Clean Cutlery. Erin was also a writer for the blog Design*Sponge from 2016 to 2019. Her third creative non-fiction book, Small Town Living, will be on Running Press in September of 2024.
