Elizabeth Garden

Elizabeth always knew there was something wrong with her family. When she discovered a close relative was a mass murderer, she wasn’t at all surprised. In fact, it was the missing piece to the puzzle of her life. She knew she had to write about it and the effects it had on her upbringing, which was peppered with violence, abuse and bad choices. As a young artist, Garden was captivated by the natural beauty of the Connecticut woods, where her vivid imagination allowed her to commune with her spirits. Emotionally neglected in a male dominated household and discouraged from attending any activities that required her parents’ involvement, she channeled her appreciation of nature into artwork, spending most of her time in her room. It turns out her artwork and rich imagination was the one thing that protected her from her easily enraged, narcissistic father and abusive older brother. The middle daughter of five children, Elizabeth left home at seventeen to attend art school in Boston, although her formal education was halted when her parents decided they would no longer support her vision of being an artist. She struggled to find her professional and personal footing, but in 1985 she experienced a life-changing event in the form of a visualization through hypnosis. By accessing her own inner guidance Garden reached enough clarity to steer herself in a better direction despite a challenging personal life as a single mother. Garden succeeded in building a successful career as a publication designer and illustrator, eventually becoming an award-winning art director for several high profile magazines. One of the ways she supported and nurtured herself was working as a psychic. She eventually completed a correspondence course as a certified psychic medium from the Morris Pratt Institute. Immediately afterwards, the terrible family secret of epic proportions was revealed. To Elizabeth, it was a story that that begged to be written and its relevance to her own unusual life began to emerge. Elizabeth is a survivor in so many ways. She believes in human and spiritual potential and our ability to affect change by accessing our own inner guidance.
