Elisa Barbaro was born in Messina.  She worked 10 years at a travel agency and then as a tour guide. Travelling is her passion. Elisa’s writing career began somewhat by accident when she participated in a literary competition and won first prize.  Two year later she tried her hand at the writing competition once again, Elisa’s entry won first prize again. Her first novel, "Her name was April" was born after chronicling stories from her boyfriend’s youth and the disappointments of lost love.   In writing about these events, the characters came to life and in Elisa’s words, the story wrote itself.
