Rick Scott spent most of his childhood in poverty, like trailer park and free school lunch poor. He joined the U.S. Army to serve his country and to get money for college. It worked. After graduating from the University of Georgia, Rick was working temp jobs and still living in his mother's double-wide (admittedly one of the more beautiful homes in the park). Then things started to click. Rick got a corporate job and spent hundreds of hours learning about personal finance. Soon, Rick began to accumulate some wealth. He worked for some of the finest corporations in the world: AT&T, Home Depot, and Publix. Rick also earned a master’s in finance from Georgia State University and a Ph.D. in finance from the University of South Florida. Currently, Dr. Scott is an associate professor at Saint Leo University. He greatly enjoys giving financial advice. Dr. Scott is very happily married to the love of his life and has two beloved teenage daughters. He hasn’t been poor for a very long time and wants to keep it that way.
