I was born and raised in the state of Iowa, in America’s Heartland. I attended the American Institute of Business and also served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy.
I have lived with my partner for the past 21 years (a man to whom I donated a kidney in 2011)
In 2015 I decided to combine my interests to write the first book in a series called An Old Gay Couples Guide to Entertaining. The book shares Doug’s love of food, people and the diversity which makes us all unique.
When I'm not writing great books,My passion is for music. I has performed in musicals such as the Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado and Godspell, and I enjoy relaxing by playing guitar.I also loves to travel and have a fondness for antiques and artwork, spending hours browsing the shops and galleries for my next purchase.
As an advocate for equality in all walks of life Doug’s hopes for the future are that someday no-one will ever be treated badly for who they are.
